बाकी सब सपने होते हैं, अपने तो अपने होते हैं।
At DMET Club, operating under the guidance of DMECA, our philosophy is simple: never say no to a DMETian in need. However, at times, we face our own limitations.
With over 6,000 DMETians now connected, we are both overwhelmed and humbled by the strength and insights from our community. Many people are unaware of why we started DMET Club. For us, glorification was never the goal.
That’s why you won’t see any names in the “About Us” section, and you won’t in the future either.
Several people have reached out asking about the team behind DMET Club (It's just an online platform , on a mission to reunite Dmetians). While operationally managed by a private Dmetian organisation, DMET Club is run by DMETians, for DMETians, with the sole purpose of serving DMETians.
The Fundraising Story: From My Eyes
When I received a call from one of Ranjit Sir's batchmates (I have forgotten his name, sorry for that). They needed a common account for fundraising within their batch, aiming to raise around ₹25 lakhs. Though we’ve conducted fundraisers before at DMET Club, I was taken aback by the amount and expressed my concern.
However, knowing the gravity of the situation, I was deeply saddened by the family's plight—especially in these times when many of us have witnessed emergencies since COVID-19.
I explained that while DMET Club could initiate the fundraising, due to the large amount, it would require an association to back and manage the funds (tax optimisation, a non profit). I immediately reached out to Mudit Sir, the DMECA Secretary. Within 30 seconds of our conversation, he said yes.
This is precisely why DMET Club operates under DMECA's guidance—their swift, decisive actions for DMET welfare are unparalleled.
In just 72 hours, we raised over ₹33 lakhs for Ranjit Sir, thanks to the unwavering support of DMECA and special recognition to the current torchbearers, Uday Purohit Sir and Mudit Sir. A special mention to Mudit Sir, who put aside all his work to dedicate his full time to the cause during this period(Recording keeping is always crucial).
Gaurav Sir, along with Ranjit Sir’s batchmates from the Class of 2003 — including Amiya Sir, Pawan Sir, Gyan Sir, Rajat Sir, Rupesh Sir, and Hari Sir, to name a few — as well as Anand Sir and the exceptional Class of 2008, consistently appealed to their networks. DMETians from various walks of life also actively participated, while associations from Hong Kong and Singapore joined the mission to support Ranjit.
I realise that this message may still not fully acknowledge the many individuals whose contributions are yet to be named. DMECA will soon publish the complete donor list to ensure everyone’s efforts are recognised
I've been encouraging everyone to join DMECA, where a lifetime membership is only ₹5,000.
Yet, I often face critical questions about why one should join?
Having invested millions in building tech businesses over the last decade, it saddens me when someone questions this. If it were up to me, the DMECA membership fee would be ₹1 lakh (just my personal opinion on brand value of DMET). We need to unite behind an association that genuinely cares and aims to bring all DMET associations together.
DMECA, nearing 1,000 members, is the largest such association, located in Mumbai, the shipping hub of the nation, with a rich history of giving back to DMET Kolkata and its alumni.
An association that stands for its members deserves our support in return.
Moreover, the upcoming launch of the DMET Club platform (iOS and Android app) in a few weeks wouldn’t have been possible without DMECA's financial support.
They care about DMET, period!
DMECA, in collaboration with DMET Club, is organising various programs—both online and offline—for its members in the coming months to ensure they see the value in their investment of ₹5,000. We must cultivate the habit of giving back to our community.
A DMECA Initiative for it's members
Being selfish is not the solution. In recent months, some seniors have told me, “What has DMET ever given us?” I’m alive and breathing today because of my batchmates, seniors, and juniors.
I've had three paralytic strokes in the past three years and have recovered 100% each time. All my ventures and partnerships have been with DMETians. Without DMET, I wouldn’t exist. DMET is everything to me, and I guess for many of us the feeling is mutual!
So let’s unite to safeguard our legacy—the DMET Legacy.
Update: We are excited to announce a new partnership with one of India’s largest health and wellness insurance brokers, LivLong. Together, we are launching the Dmet Care: A DMET Community Health and Wellness Insurance initiative, specifically designed to help our members be better prepared for medical and wellness emergencies.
This initiative aims to provide comprehensive coverage, financial protection, and support, ensuring that no DMETian has to face such situations alone. Full details, including coverage options and enrolment procedures, will be shared in the coming days.
Wishing speedy recovery to Ranjit Sir!
You are in prayers of 10,000+ Dmetian' family!
