On January 25, 2025, the DMECA (DMET-MERI Ex-Cadets Association) hosted an unforgettable alumni meet at The Westin, Powai, Mumbai, which drew over 750 attendees, including DMETians, sponsors, and media partners. The event was hailed by attendees as the best alumni meet in DMECA’s history, setting a benchmark that will be hard to surpass. The leadership team now faces the exciting challenge of raising the bar even higher in the years to come.
A Celebration of Unity and Collaboration
The event's success was powered by the unwavering support of more than 50 sponsors and partners. A special shoutout goes to Uday Purohit and Mudit Mehrotra, under whose visionary leadership the event reached new heights. Their efforts were bolstered by the dedicated DMECA leadership team, including stalwarts like Pradeep Singh and Shashi Dhar Mishra, who worked tirelessly for last six months to bring this event to fruition.
While not every contributor can be named here, DMET Club plans to feature a follow-up interview with the DMECA team to shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes behind this massive success.
Honouring Extraordinary Achievements
One of the event's highlights was the felicitation of a world-record-holding DMETian mountaineer, who summited Mount Everest and Lhotse twice in 2024 within a single week. The DMECA leadership honoured this remarkable achievement with a cash award of INR 1 lakh, setting a precedent for alumni associations worldwide to recognise and celebrate extraordinary accomplishments of their community members.
A Night to Remember
The evening was brimming with activities and entertainment that left attendees enthralled. From exciting lucky draws, where one lucky DMETian won an iPad and others walked away with fabulous gifts, to an interview corner and a tarot card reading station, every detail was thoughtfully planned. Guests enjoyed the beats of live dhol, posed at the photo booth, and indulged in a sumptuous dinner paired with unlimited drinks.
The star performers of the night, Indian Idol sensation Salman Ali and Vinti Singh, set the stage on fire with their electrifying performances, keeping the audience on their feet throughout the evening. DMECA has always been thoughtful when it comes to mementos, and this year was no different. Every attendee received carefully curated event gifts that will serve as cherished keepsakes for years to come.
Renewed Commitment to the Community
In a brief interview, DMECA Secretary Mudit Mehrotra reaffirmed the association’s mission to serve its alma mater and alumni community. He emphasised that 2025 would be a year of relentless dedication to their vision, in collaboration with the DMECA Hong Kong Alumni Association, DMET Club, and a robust network of sponsors and partners.
Join the Movement
As the DMECA community continues to grow and thrive, there’s an open call for all DMETians to join the association as lifetime members. A stronger, united alumni network can drive greater impact and create even more opportunities to support the DMET community.
Stay tuned for a detailed feature on this extraordinary event and the people who made it possible. In the meantime, let’s celebrate the spirit of togetherness, achievement, and service that defines the DMET family.
