DMECA Commits INR 1 Crore to Giving Back: Empowering DMET’s Present and Future Cadets

The DMET-MERI Ex-Cadets Association (DMECA) has taken a significant step toward strengthening its alma mater by pledging INR 1 crore over three years under its initiative "Give Back to Our Alma Mater." This commitment is aimed at enhancing infrastructure, facilities, and opportunities for present-day cadets at DMET (now Indian Maritime University - IMU).
Deployment of Funds and Progress So Far
DMECA has already deployed INR 30 lakhs as part of the first phase of this initiative, ensuring that these funds are utilized exclusively for the benefit of the campus and its current cadets.
DMECA President, Uday Purohit & DMECA Secretary, Mudit Mehrotra, reaffirmed that the association remains committed to keeping the DMET flag flying high by actively contributing to the institution’s growth and the welfare of its students.
Future Plans: Strengthening DMET’s Infrastructure and Resources
With a firm goal to increase contributions in the coming years, DMECA is currently consulting with IMU’s Kolkata and Mumbai campuses to identify the most impactful ways to utilise these funds.
The primary focus areas for fund allocation include:
✅ Upgrading academic and training infrastructure
✅ Improving hostel and campus facilities for cadets
✅ Investing in modern simulation and lab equipment
✅ Providing scholarships and financial aid to meritorious cadets
✅ Enhancing sports and extracurricular resources
